Post-midterm shakedown

  • Read chapters 10 & 11 of Learning Processing. The reading will be distributed to you in the class Slack. These are meant to act as a small coda to the work we’ve done over the last 5 weeks, and get you thinking about process as much as the technical aspects of programming.
  • Reflect on the work you did this last 2 weeks in light of the reading. How would this have changed your approach to working on your project? Would it not have made a difference? Write a blog post with your thoughts.
  • Create a sketch over the course of an hour or so. You don’t need to have a specific idea about it, just write code. Start with a blank program and get something working. It doesn’t need to be impressive to anyone but yourself. The next day (i.e. don’t start the first part Thursday at midnight) spend another hour playing around with the code. By playing, I’m asking you to experiment incrementally with the sketch from the previous day. Think of this as a free time to play as you like with code. There are no restrictions or constraints, just you and the editor. Post your results to the class openprocessing site. Ideally, you would do this every day this week, so you would have 5 chances to refine one program, but at the very least do this twice.
  • Fill out this linked form before class next week. It’s a self assessment, and means for me to get a handle on where you are in the class. You are not graded on your responses, but getting it back to me on time.
